Today the Supreme Court ruled in favor of gay marriage. So for the first and hopefully last time I’d say all i have to say about it. The truth is as a Christian I have come to see it is important to remember several things that Jesus Christ teaches us.
1. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”
This verse highlights we are all sinners, so there for we should not be pointing out the sins in others. All to often today we fail to see our own faults, but are all to will to condemn others for theirs.
2. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.
In this verse it stresses the importance that he love each other. It maybe hard at times to show love towards others especially when they seam to show not love to you. Its important to no matter what show love to others and you will find that you will gain their love in return.
3. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
This verse is much like the previous. It further stresses the importance of love in out society. One may ask what does this have to do with gay marriage. Truthfully nothing directly, but many times we to easily mistreat those whose beliefs differ from ours, and this only makes it more likely that they will return the favor.
4. And the pig, though it has a divided hoof, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you.
The pig is also unclean; although it has a divided hoof, it does not chew the cud. You are not to eat their meat or touch their carcasses.
So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.
With the verses listed above i really want to point out that the laws of the new testament is something Christians are dead to. More of us eat pork, and even bacon has quiet the cult following. Through Jesus we are free for the laws, in turn he are called to serve others. This is why Christians not longer follow the laws, but why to we cherry pick through to justify condemning others, when we are called to serve others.
I hope now you can see, that we need to shop seeing Christianity as a religion of laws but a religion of love. God Bless you all. I will leave you with a link that I think is good. Check it out: LINK.
